Our theme this week is Christmas. 

This week we will be learning the letters: F, f

We will be touring downtown Ashdown on Wednesday.  Please dress your child in warm clothes. 

Our Christmas party will be on Thursday at 11:30. Please remember to send $3.00 for the pizza.

Listen to your child read his/her little reader nightly and return it the next day.

This week the theme is Pilgrims. 

Turn in decorated Turkeys so they can be displayed. 

We will be learning the letter Ss and its sound. 

Practice counting to 100 by 1's, 5's, and 10's and writing numerals 0-20.

Continue to practice sight words and counting to 100.

Practice counting to 100 by 1's, 5's, 10's

This week our theme is: Spiders

We will be learning the correct formation for the letters: r, S, s, T, t, U, u

We will be going to the pumpkin Patch Wednesday morning. Permission slips must be signed!!!

All lunches need to be in a throw away bag. NO lunchboxes!!!

Please practice sight/fast words that come home every Monday. These are pre-requisites for reading. 

Practice counting to 100 by 1's, 5's, and 10's. 

Report cards go out on Thursday. 

NO SCHOOL next Monday due to parent teacher conferences 2:30-6:30.

This week we are learning correct letter formation of the letters: O, o, P, p, Q, q, R. 

Our theme for this week is: Pumpkins. 

Sight words are: up, to.  Please practice and review all sight words daily. 

Practice counting to 100 by 1's, 5's, and 10's. 

Identify shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon).

We are learning the correct formation of the letters: M, m, N, n.  

Practice rhyming words with your child. 

Also, we have started counting syllables in words. 

Our theme this week is Fire Safety/Columbus. Please go over your home's fire safety and escape routes with your child. 

Review sight words: it, am, go, we, can, I, a, like, is, in, at

Review all color words. 

Weekly News Sept. 30-Oct. 4

This week we will be learning the correct formation of the letters (I, i, J, j, K, k, L, l). Our theme is Leaves. We enjoyed our Apple theme last week and the kids made applesauce. Ask them about Johnny Appleseed and which color apple they liked best. 

Week of Sept. 9-13, 2013

This week we will be introducing A, a, B, b, C, c. Please follow the correct formation of these letters. Reminder:  The Scholastic book order form has to be returned on Sept. 17th.  (Checks made out to Scholastic Book Club). Thanks!

Classroom News

It has been a great 2nd week of school.  Our theme is Colors. Your children will be singing the color songs and spelling the colors.  We are practicing sticks ( | _  /  \ ) and writing names.  Please practice daily at home reinforcing the skills that are taught at school.  Grandparent's Day will be Friday, September 6, 2013.  Invitations are in your child's folder. 

Meet the Teacher

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! I look forward to meeting everyone at Meet the Teacher Day which is Thursday, August 15, 2013.  You may come between 3:00-6:30 to bring supplies and meet me. Make sure your name is on all your supplies. See you Thursday!!!

MDP Field Day will be Friday, May 17, 2013. If u would like to come volunteer to work a booth please let me know.  Send your child to school in clothes n flip flops that u won't mind them getting wet in. Also, send extra clothes and shoes for them to change into after the event is over.

Limo ride is Friday, April 26, 2013.
Kindergarten Field Trip is Thursday, May 2, 2013.

This week and next week, our theme is Space.
We are learning -4's. continue to practice -5's & -4's so these are by memory.
Continue practicing sight words and spelling words.
Cap & Gown & Tassels can be purchased for graduation.

This week we will be reviewing (Rr) and learning plus 2's. (0+2), (1+2), (2+2), (3+2)
Valentine's Parties are Thursday, February 14, 2013 @ 1:30 p.m.
Please send all Val. cards to school with names already printed on them by Wednesday.
